After five years of repairs, the third power unit resumed electricity generation. The unit was in operation in the network for about six hours with a load acceptance of over 100 MW. During the testing, thyristor excitation systems were tested, and boiler pulverized-coal handling systems were trial-run including coal feeding. The official website of the company mentions these news.
Earlier, ENNOVA had developed and supervised the project "Repairs and rehabilitation of the boiler compartment for power unit No. 3" and also carried out commissioning.
"The key events on the way to the start-up of the boiler and power unit included the following: mothballing and demothballing of the turbine and surviving equipment, high-speed water washes, fuel oil supply, first ignition, steam-water-oxygen cleaning and passivation, steam supply to the turbine, turbine balancing," says Alexander Antonov, senior engineer of the Commissioning and Testing department.
In February, our specialists were actively preparing the boiler for coal operation. Coal pulverizing systems were checked, adjusted and trial-run. Coal-fired operation is not possible without an operating slag and ash removal system.
